The problem with FileMaker ... from a FileMaker developer perspective

As you probably know, we've spent some time comparing the latest version of FileMaker Pro 9 to Alpha Five Version 8. The results speak for themselves, and we're seeing strong support from the developer community for this work.

Here's a little something I recently came across from someone who did his own review of FileMaker 9 for SQL applications. In his blog, Bob Cusik pulls out some of the major shortcomings of the FileMaker platform, such as compatibility issues, slow searches, slow sorts, and no guarantee of proper data-type mapping.

Bob knows his FileMaker stuff. He is the founder of ClickWare, a database consulting firm that specialized in FileMaker development. No, he's not an Alpha Software customer (although I'll do my best to change that {grin}).
