A guide for the aspiring entrepreneur

It's scary out there. And it doesn't look like it's going to get better very quickly. A few weeks ago, I talked about the U.S.'s soaring unemployment rates, and things have only gotten worse since then. But my message remains the same: If you've been laid off (or even if you're still employed), now's the best time to start that business you've always dreamed of.

I came across an article in BusinessWeek this week that I thought could be a great help to anyone considering taking that leap. In the article, John Tozzi gives his 20-step guide to self-employment, and tackles some of the more intimidating questions of entrepreneurship, such as healthcare, taxes, and expenses.

Consider the slide show and article guides to go from unemployment to employment. I hope you find them helpful.

Actually you'd only need the last point 20: "Look ahead". After all the desktop is dead. Or will be soon. Go web, go cloud, go global or at least do not restrict to local. Concentrate on the What and not the How. Pre-requisite is that somebody supplies you with the tools for the How. And for this I'm expecting Alpha to give me the tools which will enable me to help me develop and sell my Services / Products. Tools which are EASY to use, FAST to implement, with the right PERFORMANCE which is expected now and RELIABLE to give faith and do not require me to spend time on the technics of the How. Whether that's AJAX or the next hot tech thing to get it done, I don't care. Give me the tools, so I can get my job done.
Remember you needed a mechanic to help drive your T-Ford or have it maintained? I am hoping for times you do not need IT geeks to run my business, but have tools which help me to create business and maintain easily myself. That's the future. At least in my opinion (After working in IT for more than 30 years). IT as a profession is just a phase until the tools have matured in such an extent, you don't need the mechanics until the next 100K service...
