Our first glimpse of our Alpha dog

Way back in October I told you about my family's plans to bring home our very own Alpha dog. Well, the sister of our four-legged neighbors, Caspian and Teige, has just given birth to a litter of 12 (!) adorable puppies.

Who will be the Alpha dog?

Will it be this little fella?

I bet nursing 12 puppies is a full-time job. I think I'll stick with selling software.

This lucky momma was bred with a Canadian champion, so those pups have a great bloodline. My daughter and I are heading down to visit the puppies in Rochester, N.Y., this weekend to have a first look at the litter and maybe choose the next member of the Rabins family. I can't tell who's more excited, me or my daughter!

Outstanding. Beautiful momma and beautiful pups.

I'll have to post a pic of my bud Sammy to the forum. He's my best bud in the world.

My Weimaraner had a bakers dozed and she was one busy mama! Thirteen chow hounds all looking for attention kept her running for several months.

Weimaraners are stunning dogs!

They were on the list, along with a good mutt or a greater swiss mountain dog or a Rhodesian Ridgeback (since i was born in Bulawyo Rhodesia (before it became Zimbabwe))

But then we got smitten by our neighbors two Irish Setters!

The amazing thing about this puppy business is the fact that Dogs produce puppies in 63 days (with a range of 62 to 64 days - thats it.)

Compare that to the 9 months with a range of weeks for Humans.

It is quite remarkable that such great creatures can be "built" by Nature in about 2 months.

Imagine if software development could be that productive:)

Wishing everyone a good Easter Weekend.

Too bad about the Canadian blood line. Now none of the puppies can ever be White House dogs
